Welcome to new managers Andy Peacock (Everton), Richard Thomson (Liverpool), we have several managerial changes with Ninja68 joining Nottingham Forest, LukeG joining Crystal Palace.

Season 6 Summary

Season 6 has been another great season for the game and managers who have played through the season.  In the English Premier League Manchester United (Matt Colly) have dominated for the 2nd season running and took the back to back Premier League titles with only 2 league defeats, once again United's strikeforce of Podolski and Rooney were two good for other clubs.  Portsmouth (Ninja68) kept up pressure but eventually had a mid season blip which cost any chances of the league title, it was a season to forget for three of the big clubs Manchester city, Chelsea and Arsenal who were never really in the title race and will be looking to strengthen and bounce back in Season 7.

At the bottom, Wolves and West Ham have a tough old season and both were ultimately relegated to the Championship.  Can anyone stop Manchester United making it 3 league titles in a row?

In the English Championship its been a 3 team race for the two promotion spots between Everton, and new boys Swansea City and Fulham, with each club at the top for a couple of games and then replaced by each other the promotion race went into the last game of the season.  Keeping their nerve and successfully earning the needed points Fulham as Champions and Swansea City won promotion to the English Premier League, congratulation to both clubs.

At the bottom its been a long season for Norwich City who have been managerless most of the season and despite best efforts of a caretaker manager (darlingtondave) they were ultimately relegated in Round 16,   Newcastle United also joined Norwich City been relegated from the league, and both clubs will be replaced by Crystal Palace, Leeds United, Nottingham Forest and Watford in and expanded Championship.

The Goaaal FA Cup saw all clubs battle to make the final,  cup shocks were  Arsenal destroying Chelsea 6-1 in the Quarter finals, Manchester United hit Liverpool with 8 goals also in the Quarter Finals.  In the semi finals both London clubs Arsenal and West Ham knocked out the Manchester clubs United and City respectively, to set-up an all London final.  Many expected it to be a quite a tight final, but Arsenal(Drum) were dominant and won the match 3-0 to lift the FA Cup for the 1st time since Season 2.

The new League Cup started with Manchester City being knocked out in Round 1 and Chelsea again being knocked by their rivals Arsenal.  The Quarter Finals provided many surprises with Burnley stunning Liverpool 1-0, Swansea City knocked out Portsmouth 2-1, and Arsenal knocked out Manchester United 2-1.  In the semi finals Aston Villa beat Burnley 6-3 in a thriller after extra time, and Swansea City continued causing upsets by knocking out Arsenal 1-0 to set up a final date with Villa.  The final proved one game too much for the Swans, and Aston Villa(Winzor) triumphed and lifted the League Cup with a 1-0 win.

In the European Cup Liverpool won all 6 Group games to set a record and were joined in the semi finals by Tottenham who finished runners up in Group A. Group B was a very tight group with 3 points seperating all four teams but Portsmouth topped the group and qualified along with Aston Villa who just edged out Arsenal and Barcelona.  The two legged semi finals saw Liverpool and Aston Villa share a 1-1 draw in the first leg, and Tottenham beating Portsmouth 2-1, which set up well the 2nd legs where Aston Villa and Liverpool again drew 1-1 and Villa won on penalties.  In the other semi final Portsmouth beat Tottenham 1-0 and went through on away goals.  The European Cup Final was a showdown between Aston Villa and Portsmouth, with Portsmouth winning the trophy for the 2nd season in a row.

Season 6 World Club Championship saw last season's European Cup champions Portsmouth representing the league against Atletico Mineiro(Brazil), FC Seoul(Korea) and ES Setif from (Middle East), the clubs played each other twice in a group.  Portsmouth won the group with 5 wins scoring 24 goals and lifting the World Club Championship.

We would like to thank all managers who played Season 6, and looking for another competitive season in Season 7.
